Art
At Japari School, we believe art is more than just drawing and painting—it’s a gateway to a well-rounded education. Our dedicated art teacher, Brenda, guides students through fun and creative activities that enhance their artistic skills and connect with other subjects like Math and English.
Using Clay & Pottery
Brenda brings art to life by weaving in exciting stories about the pieces students work on and teaching the basics of art theory. Recently, we’ve added pottery and clay activities, which the students absolutely love. It’s not just about creating beautiful pieces; it’s about learning and having fun while doing it.
Why is art important?
Art helps our pupils think critically, solve problems, and develop fine motor skills. Plus, it shows them how different subjects are connected, making their overall learning experience more engaging and meaningful.
Music
At Japari School, our weekly music program is led by our enthusiastic Drum Tribe. Every Wednesday, pupils from Grade 1-7 engage in interactive lessons where they learn to sing, dance, and play musical instruments simultaneously.
Throughout the term, pupils focus on a specific song, and the term finishes in a final performance.
Music Theory
Our classes cover essential music theory. Pupils explore timbre, tone, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, and more. This hands-on and interactive approach makes learning music enjoyable and helps pupils develop important life skills like teamwork and discipline.
Chess
At Japari School, we’ve introduced chess as a fun and educational activity for our Pupils. Every year, we organize a chess tournament to help pupils improve their concentration, problem-solving, and creativity.
Why Chess?
Chess is a brain workout for our pupils. It encourages them to think strategically and logically, which are important skills for learning and life. During the tournament, our teachers guide and assist, ensuring it’s a positive learning experience.
For pupils who might find it challenging to focus, like those with ADHD, chess provides an engaging way to build concentration skills. Our pupils love the chess tournaments, and we celebrate their achievements by announcing winners at the end. It’s a fantastic way for our pupils to have fun, learn & grow!
